National Cleft Awareness Week - November 8-14
Each year during November, CleftPALS celebrates National Cleft Awareness Week, with family days, seminars, fund-raising and publicity. Each state organises it own events, but we share ideas, merchandise and support.
Last year, one member family organised a 4 km walk on the beach, advertised it in the local paper, and not only raised awareness, but $800 as well. A fantastic effort! Of course they were supported by the CleftPALS committee with balloons, stickers, posters, flyers, pens and other material, but they helped themselves and made a huge difference!!
Perhaps we could follow their example! If you have an idea for raising awareness in your community or suburb, please contact us. We’d love to help in any way that we can. And it doesn’t have to be in November – awareness needs addressing all year round!!
